School of Education Science of ECNU was set up in Oct. 5, 1980. It was first school in universities of nationwide on the initiative of form-president, famous educator and scholar, Prof. Funian Liu. At percent, the school has been a research one which combined theory and practice, research and teaching, pre-service and in-service training, undergraduate and graduate students for 30 years.

The School has Dept. of Education, Dept. of Curriculum & Instruction, Dept. of Educational Information & Technology, Ins. Of Vocation Education & Adult Education, Ins. Of Higher Education, Library for Education (Center for Educational Information Network), Center for International Examination. There are numerous research centers and institutes such as Experimental Centre for Education Science (Space for Future Teacher), Centre for Research Database in Teacher Education Policy, Institute of International & Comparative Education, Institute of Teacher Education, Institute of Educational History, Institute of Educational Technology, Center for community Education, Center for Vocational Education, Center for Adult Education, Center for Human Resources, Center for Inclusive Education, Center for Learning Science, Center for Integrated Education & Science, etc. The School has 148 faculty members, there are 41 professors and 52 associate professors. There are 268 undergraduate students, 1064 master students and 220 doctoral students .
