New Book on Social Movement Learning

This book, co-authored by PASCAL Associate Budd Hall, has just been published and I recommend it to subscribers. The following is from the preface by Marjorie Mayo:

The publication of ‘Learning and education for a better world: the role of social movements’ is to be welcomed most warmly. This is such a timely collection of essays, bringing together critical reflections on experiences of social action from across the globe. Previous publications have demonstrated the importance of learning in social movements along with the importance of learning from experiences of participating in social movements (e.g. Eyerman and Jamison, 1991, Foley, 1999 and Kane, 2001). As these writings have demonstrated, these have been two-way processes of learning, acquiring knowledge and skills in order to take action more effectively, and learning through reflecting on the experiences of social action that follow, engaging in movements for social justice and social change.

Jean Monnet Programme - Key Activity 1- Call for proposals 2013

Within the Lifelong Learning Programme, the first key activity of the Jean Monnet Programme brings together the two instruments formerly known as the Jean Monnet Action and the Support for Study and Research Centres. The actions supported under this key activity aim to stimulate excellence in teaching, research, reflection and debate in European integration studies in higher education institutions within and outside the European Union.

Educating Citizenship from, for and to Participation - Teaching Citizenship and Participation in Spain

Educating Citizenship from, for and to Participation was designed and implemented, mainly destined to work in Adult Education schools of the city of Seville, aiming the facilitation and promotion of citizenship and participation, through the analysis and knowledge of their surrounding daily realities. This material is organized in themes: Me and my environment, Something more than a word and Participatory Budgets divided in 10 activities from the definition of the community problems to making proposal to the assemblies.
