The Talloires Network E-Newsletter - December 2020

The Talloires Network of Engaged Universities is a global coalition of institutions collaborating with communities and partners to confront societal challenges such as disease, famine, structural racism, gender oppression, economic inequality, and climate change. We support university civic engagement in all its forms including community-based research, applied research, service-learning, extension, volunteerism, public service, policymaking, political activism, and social entrepreneurship. Though 2020 has been a challenging year for all of us, we are constantly invigorated by our members who are taking action, providing opportunity, and offering hope.

Recently we joined a Zoom presentation from Rotterdam, in conjunction with the Singapore Centre for Liveable Cities.  The discussion examined the urban design solutions for working and living that enable engagement in public places as well as ensure good management of climate change challenges.

Report on the inaugural Global Learning Festival (GLF)

From 1-4 September 2020, the City of Melton and the City of Wyndham co-led the inaugural Global Learning Festival (GLF) with over 20 other partners including the PASCAL Observatory and the Australian Learning Communities Network (ALCN) who helped bring this event to life.
