Andrew Petter, the President of Simon Fraser University (SFU), has done a nice poem that I think that PASCAL's city networks would enjoy:

Our hearts go out to all victims of terror

On behalf of PASCAL we post below a response made by our colleague Chris Duke on the campaigning website 38 Degrees with which we are sure that PASCAL subscribers will wish to echo. We could add many more examples of terrorist acts even in the last week, such as that of the 224 Russians most likely murdered over the Sinai desert, and as Chris says our hearts are with all victims of such atrocities.

Communities of Practice in Lifelong Learning - an Invitation

We are currently involved in a project called DISCUSS (see http://www.discuss-community.eu), which is supported by PASCAL about the development of communities of practice in lifelong learning. We know that many PASCAL subscribers have had many years of experience in such communities and wonder if some of you would be willing to write a short blog (just one page of response only is needed) about some of your experiences in the context of projects in the field of lifelong learning.

Glasgow - European Entrepreneurial Region for 2016

In July 2015, the  President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), Markku Markkula, awarded Glasgow (UK), Lombardia (IT) and Małopolska (PL) as European Entrepreneurial Regions (EER) 2016. The Award ceremony was held in Brussels  after a jury, consisting of members from EU institutions and business associations, selected the regions' strategies as the best to promote entrepreneurship and spread innovation among small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Cork Healthy City progress

A report (featured below) from the co-ordinator of the Cork Healthy City initiative, Denise Cahill, to Cork City Council shows the progress that the Healthy City initiative has made since becoming a WHO Healthy City in January 2012. This has gone along with active participation in the Cork EcCoWell initiative directed at achieving a more holistic to city development.
