Generations Working Together (GWT) training courses

These training courses will be of interest to those who are keen to embed intergenerational approaches within their programme of work.

Learning outcomes

On completion of this training participants will:

Intergenerational Practice

  • Be clear about what intergenerational practice actually is, and how it can be defined.
  • Understand how planned intergenerational practice can be relevant to meeting policy aims in different areas of social policy, community development and work with children, families and older people
  • Understand the relationship between intergenerational practice activities, policy and outcomes

Bringing Groups Together

  • Understand how to bring generations together effectively, meeting challenges and overcoming barriers
  • Understand the importance of bringing different generations together during a staged process
  • Be able to address stereotyping through a range of activities
  • Have experience of approaches which aim to make intergenerational practice activity accessible and inclusive

Evaluation

  • Understand the importance of monitoring and evaluating intergenerational practice activities and projects in a planned way
  • Understand ways of assessing the potential impact which intergenerational practice may have on participants and within communities
  • Be aware of and understand a range of approaches to monitoring and evaluation
  • Understand the issues around participation and involvement in monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Be aware of a range of methods of presenting information and evidence collected during monitoring and evaluation
