Paris Symposium in honour of Jarl Bengtsson, co-founder and first chair of the PASCAL Board - 9 April Paris

Taipei Learning Neighbourhood pilots

Last Friday I reported an initiative by Cork to conduct two Learning Neighbourhood pilot projects in neighbourhoods with considerable disadvantage. Cork has now been joined by the Taipei Learning City which will also conduct two Learning Neighbourhood pilot projects over the coming year.

The latest Issue of Journal of Adult and Continuing Education edited by guest editor, Hans Schuetze has been dedicated to the work of Jarl Bengtsson.

It contains articles from many of his close colleagues in PASCAL and within the OECD, including Hans himself, Chris Duke, Peter Kearns, Steve Garlick, Catherine Odora Hoppers, Bruce Wilson, Muir Houston and myself.

Introducing the Safe Schools Initiative (SSI) in Nigeria

Dr Chester Shaba, is an Education Specialist and Programme Manager for UNICEF’s Safe Schools Initiative (SSI) in Nigeria. Dr Shaba is leading a team of specialists to develop a strategy to ensure the widening access to education for all internally displaced out-of-school children (OOSCs) living in host communities.
