Newsletter for European Research in Learning and Work [L&W] - June 2013

This is the latest edition of the L&W Newsletter, which will reach you via a mailing list of over 1400 experts in and beyond Europe. As always, it focuses on transnational research activities in the field of human resource development (HRD) and vocational education and training (VET), centred on major categories: conferences, networks/ centres, programmes, projects and publications. A scheme that could see cities around the world aspiring to the title of Learning Cities is to be launched by UNESCO in October.

Speaking at the GUNI 6th International Conference on Higher Education held in Barcelona last week, Michael Osborne, professor of adult and lifelong learning at Glasgow University in the UK, said universities would have a major role to play in this.

100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge - Rockefeller Foundation

To enable 100 cities to better address major 21st century challenges, the Rockefeller Foundation is inviting cities from around the world to apply for the 100 Resilient Cities Centennial Challenge

In August, cities can be nominated through a formal application process.

Winning cities will be announced in three rounds over the next three years, with the final round of winners named in 2015.
